Classes with Shaykh Jamaal Zarabozo

March 25, 2009

Alhamdulillah I was able to take one class for three months with shaykh Jamaal; principles of tafseer and I benefited greatly from this course and learned a lot of things I had not previously learned in any tafseer class.

The classes are available online, not only with audio but also with video so you can see your teacher and learn from his demeanor and manners. There are no pre-reqs so you can begin with any of these classes inshaAllah. The students organize notes with eachother and have a google group as well.

InshaAllah I just wanted to highly stress taking these classes if you are able too; Jamaal Zarabozo is a gem amongst the teachers that we have from North America. The material covered in these classes is not available in any English book/course as far as I am aware. If you’re interested in in-depth study or know of friends/family who are interested in studying Islam in-depth but do not have the means to travel overseas, I’d highly recommend taking these classes.

InshaAllah the next semester of classes will begin April 5th inshaAllah, here is the schedule below *note: the times are PST*:

Jazak Allah khair for sharing this. I heard of these classes last year but was unable to take them. I want to now, but I was wondering – if a person misses a class, is there anyway they can obtain a recording of it to make it up?

I don’t know if they can be given a recording, but the students have very detailed notes that are shared. Also he teaches from his textbook so you can read the chapter and supplement that with the notes and inshaAllah you’ll be fine. I missed a class or two and this is what I did and it helped out a lot alhamdulillah.

I would highly recommend taking the classes inshaAllah 🙂 I can’t wait for the next semester to start up inshaAllah. Allah knows best.

For Principles of Quranic Tafseer, it says the book is available from the instructor. How would I get that if I signed up for the class?

InshaAllah the Admin will email you a PDF of the book. The book is an unpublished book by shaykh Jamaal so it’s not available for purchase.

It’s actually a website that you are directed too that has streaming video, audio and a chat box for online students. You don’t need to download anything, and if your internet is high speed inshaAllah you’ll be fine.
